Send a personal message to
the people of Iran
The human race is a single being
Created from one jewel
If one member is struck
All must feel the blow
Only someone who cares for the pain of others
Can truly be called human
- Saadi, circa 1200-1291

As the Fellowship of Reconciliation launches its historic peace mission to the ancient land of Persia, we offer an opportunity to all our members and other peace activists to be a part of this delegation in spirit.
Many of our members received a postcard featuring Persian calligraphy ( shown above) with a simple message of peace and friendship, in both English and Persian. Hundreds added their personal messages and returned the postcards. Our first delegation carried these messages on their trip to Iran in December.
Interest in sending these "person-to-person" messages was so great that we have created an online version for those who did not receive the postcard.
You can join all the others who are reaching out to the people of Iran by sending your message of friendship, which accompany our next delegation to Iran in Spring 2006.

* Saadi was one of the greatest poets Persia ever produced. The excerpt above is from the
Bustan (Garden), composed in rhyming couplets and illustrating the standard virtues recommended to Muslims (justice, liberality, modesty, contentment). Saadi's most famous work is the Golistan (Garden of Roses), written in rhyming prose.
The world honors Saadi today by gracing the entrance to the Hall of Nations at the United Nations in New York with this call to break all barriers. Saadi's tomb in Shiraz is now a shrine, and a favorite destination for tourists.
