This full-time position at the Fellowship of Reconciliation is responsible for supporting the communications efforts of the organization. The outreach and contact specialist position reports to the Communications Co-Coordinator and works collaboratively with the entire FOR staff at its national headquarters in Nyack, New York.

Salary Range: $25,000 – 28,000, depending on experience
Hours: Full-time: 35 hours per week

is the oldest and largest interfaith peace and justice organization in the United States. It is part of the International FOR, which was founded in 1914 and today includes chapters in more than 40 countries. FOR has locally-based member groups and affiliates in 100 U.S. communities and also works closely with national religious peace fellowships. In addition to vigorously opposing war and militarism, FOR is committed to working proactively and nonviolently for peace and racial/ethnic, social, and economic justice.
Summary of Position :
- Reception and clerical duties at FOR national headquarters.
- Support Communications efforts through phone/ e-mail outreach and Internet research.
Nature and Scope of Duties:
- Primary staff position responsible for answering and routing phone switchboard and FOR general e-mail inquiries. Greets visitors and provides assistance.
- Outreach to organizational partners: serves as key contact person to FOR Local Groups, Religious Peace Fellowships, and affiliated peace and justice groups.
- Drafts business correspondence for Communications office.
- Keeps informed about FOR activities, procedures, and programs; helps Development and Administration offices support and coordinate special events.
- Supports routine business functions, including mail, copy services, and bank deposits.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Professional and conversational: courteous, outgoing, and helpful manner.
- Strong initiative, self-starter who is well-organized and pays attention to detail.
- Strong writing skills and computer skills: fluent in MS Word and Outlook.
- Ability to be flexible: occasionally asked to work non-business hours.
- Willingness to learn about FOR.
- Nonprofit background and/or peace and justice activism a plus.
Salary/Benefits: $25,000-28,000. Generous benefit package includes health insurance, paid holidays, four weeks paid vacation, unemployment, pension, social security, worker’s compensation, and disability.
