The Seattle FOR Local Group , a dozen African American Ministers, the King Co. Labor Council, the National Association of Black Veterans, the Church Council of Greater Seattle and a number of other groups have been asking our US senators to speak out about the violent overthrow of the democratically elected government in Haiti. We have sent impressive delegations to meet with aides twice and presented them with close to 1,000 signatures on a petition. So far our pleas have been ignored. Thursday, May 13, Max Blanchet, a Bay Area Haitian Activist gave a very clear and forceful presentation. People signed letters to the senators and at the end of the meeting the remaining members of the audience stood for the above photo to be presented to the senators. We are planning a demonstration outside the senator's offices to ask them to speak out for the return of democracy to Haiti.
