About the Muslim-Jewish Peace Walk
The Muslim-Jewish Peace Walk is designed
to nurture the needed work of Muslim-Jewish
dialogue as well as promote interfaith and
intercultural communication. The Muslim-Jewish
Peace Walk cultivates a common ground for
peace action based on shared faith principles
of compassion and justice. The Muslim-Jewish
Peace Walk is committed to the transformation
of oppressive structures through non-violent
resolution of conflicts, openness to diversity,
and affirmation of our shared existence on
this earth. Please partake in this meaningful
sacred pilgrimage to symbolize the importance
and possibility of interfaith reconciliation.
The Muslim-Jewish Peace Walk is a non-profit
organization that grew out of the first Jewish
Muslim Interfaith Peace Walk Rabbi Lynn and
Abdul Rauf initiated in April 2002 between
Congregation Nahalat Shalom and the Islamic
Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Since
that time, Abdul Rauf and Rabbi Lynn engage
in creating peace walks, Muslim-Jewish dialogue
and text study groups, youth work and interfaith
workshops and services. They have led peace
walks in Canada, New York City, Philadelphia,
Nevada, and New Mexico. Their goal is to
facilitate a Muslim-Jewish Peace Walk in
50 cities throughout the United States by
fall 2005. They recently participated in
a Fellowship of Reconciliation Interfaith
Peace Builders trip to Jordan, Lebanon, Israel
and Palestine.
